Driving Client Aspirations

With experience delivering some of the country’s most significant projects including Commercial Bay and the Eden Park Redevelopment and Rugby World Cup Overlay, James Peacock is well-respected across the property, construction, and project management industry. Now, as an RCP Director, James knows what it takes to complete projects.

Having learned from the “godfather” of project management in New Zealand, RCP founder Warren Warfield, James has developed a passion for the scale and scope of large, complex projects. It’s this experience that has informed his perspective of the critical importance of understanding a client’s goals from the beginning.

“Clients are pivotal in setting the direction of a project. You need to take the time to understand what is most important to them, walking through any issues and implications. Then it’s about working hard to make sure that the rest of the team shares that vision and is heading in the same direction.”

James also emphasizes the importance of allowing everyone to contribute when driving toward a client’s vision. “It’s about valuing people and providing a collaborative space where everyone can excel at what they do best.”

Whether it’s setting a goal to complete a half-iron man, or meeting deliverables on projects, James’ passion for setting targets and hitting them is one of the reasons he is so successful. This drive coupled with his background in mechanical engineering brings a focused, technical perspective to projects, supplementing his ability to champion his client’s needs.

“I’m a goal-oriented, technical person. I love the bigger picture stuff, and I love digging into the details of a project to ensure everything is on track. The ability to operate at both the macro and micro levels is essential to our work and helps us head off problems, take them off a client’s shoulders, and drive the outcomes they want.”

“Building strong relationships with clients is crucial. As their trusted advisor, we represent and champion their vision from the beginning, carrying it forward until the project is complete.”
