In the heart of Auckland's busy CBD, 80 Queen Street involves upgrading the office space across multiple floors while maintaining full business operations—a logistical feat demanding meticulous planning and coordination.

RCP was brought on board early to provide strategic procurement advice and planning that has proven instrumental to the project's success through delivery efficiencies and the reduction of risk. The team also provides Engineer to Contract and fitout project management services, including basebuild coordination (landlord) and the staged migration of BNZ staff.

Stage One, now complete, delivered a full strip-out and refit of the ground floor branch area, Level 1's reception and meeting facilities, Level 2, and Levels 11-16 office floors, along with Level 18's client entertainment space. These areas have been transformed to align with BNZ's new design guidelines, creating cohesive, contemporary spaces that reflect the bank's brand identity.

Stage Two encompasses Levels 7-10 and 17 and was completed in June 2025. A highlight of this stage was the conversion of Levels 7 and 8 from their previous reception and entertainment function into a dynamic staff social hub. Level 17 is developed as an impressive client entertainment and event space connected to Level 18 via an inter-floor staircase.

Stage Three, scheduled for completion in May 2026, will upgrade Levels 3-6. The extended timeline for this final stage reflects the complexity of renovating while also accommodating staff who remain working in the building throughout construction.

One of RCP's key contributions has been the development of comprehensive day-by-day plans that orchestrate the complex choreography of decommissioning, construction, and recommissioning. These plans coordinate everything from IT equipment removal to furniture storage, ensuring smooth transitions between phases.

Ultimately the updated workplace will balance BNZ's operational needs with their vision for a modern, flexible environment that reflects their reputation.
