We are proud to play a role in providing young professionals with the opportunities they need to succeed. As part of our broader commitment to people and communities, we believe in empowering future leaders through mentorship, education, and inclusion ensuring everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
Our Longstanding Partnership with Keystone Trust
RCP has been proudly supporting Keystone Trust for over 13 years and has been a Key Scholarship Partner since 2022. Our Managing Director, Jeremy Hay, has been a dedicated trustee since 2016 and previously served as the Chair of the Study Award Selection Committee between 2019 and 2023. His involvement has been crucial in helping guide the future leaders of our industry. Jeremy stepped down from this role last year, but his ongoing commitment remains a key part of our relationship with the Trust.
In addition, Marcus Read, RCP Director and an alumni of the 1998 Keystone Trust Study Award, continues to contribute as a valued member of the Scholarship Selection Committee, ensuring that the scholarship recipients are well-positioned for success.
We are proud to support Keystone Trust’s vital work. They play a pivotal role in removing the barriers students face by providing financial support, mentorship, and industry connections—empowering students to unlock their potential and build stronger communities. Through our continued partnership, we are honoured to help provide the next generation of industry leaders with the tools and opportunities to thrive.

Jacky Dai
Jacky is studying Building Science at Victoria University, pursuing a double major in Project Management and Sustainable Engineering Systems.
What motivated you to choose a career in the property / construction industry?
My curiosity about construction started at a young age due to early exposure to the industry. Initially, I was drawn towards design and architecture during my time at Whanganui Collegiate. However, I realised that I am a people’s person and wanted a role where I could work closely with others, manage teams, and handle real-world challenges. This led me to pursue project management. At the same time, seeing the environmental impact of construction made me want to approach it with a sustainability-focused mindset—actively finding ways to improve industry practices while eventually leading projects effectively.
How has receiving this scholarship impacted your studies and future career aspirations?
Beyond the financial support, this scholarship has given me a crucial opportunity to get my foot in the door into the industry. Having a mentor means I can bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application by asking questions and gaining insights that go beyond what’s taught in lectures. It’s a chance to develop practical skills and build connections that will shape my future career.
What has been the most exciting or challenging part of your studies so far?
The most exciting and challenging aspect has been reshaping my perspective on sustainability in construction. My sustainability course made me aware of real-world issues, particularly the carbon impact of the industry. It pushed me to think critically about how construction practices contribute to these challenges and reinforced the importance of integrating sustainable solutions into future projects.
How do you see yourself contributing to the industry once you graduate?
I see myself contributing by bringing a fresh perspective on sustainability and efficient project management. With my experience in both hands-on roles and theoretical study, I want to work on projects that prioritise smarter construction methods, waste reduction, and energy efficiency. Long term, I aim to step into a leadership role where I can bridge the gap between innovative sustainable practices and practical, cost-effective construction solutions.
