Technical Expertise, Collaborative Impact
As a chartered civil engineer and project manager with a strong foundation in both technical expertise and client-focused solutions, Josh Harris prides himself on nurturing open collaboration, managing high-risk perspectives, and tailoring strategies to fit each client’s unique goals.
"A great project manager is technically capable and adaptable. It’s about understanding the pathway, working creatively, and tailoring solutions to match each client’s expectation. No two projects should ever run the exact same way."
Josh launched his career as a graduate engineer in London, becoming a Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Civil Engineers shortly after. In his early years, he contributed to high-profile projects like the 20-billion-dollar renovation and expansion of the Battersea Power Station.
Transitioning into project management, Josh worked with leading firms like Beckett Rankine in Westminster and Turner & Townsend in Birmingham. This shift reflected his passion for holistic problem-solving and his ability to balance technical understanding with the bigger picture of project delivery. He excels at guiding clients and ensuring their vision is realised while navigating technical and logistical challenges.
"Every client has a dream, and my role is to help them bring that to life. Whether it’s explaining complex processes or jumping through hoops together, part of my role is to guide them from A to B as smoothly as possible."
Now based in New Zealand, Josh has worked with a variety of clients, including iwi, where he has embraced the cultural significance and unique aspects of each project. He is deeply respectful of local traditions, often participating in blessings and cultural events, which have enriched his understanding of the communities he serves. Josh’s work reflects a commitment to not just meeting technical or commercial objectives but also fostering relationships that honour cultural values and heritage.
"Respecting and embracing different perspectives is so important. Working with iwi in New Zealand, for example, has taught me to listen, participate, and stay present in cultural events. It’s about being open, humble, and always willing to learn."
Whether navigating regulatory frameworks, managing intricate budgets, or facilitating client visions, Josh is driven by a philosophy of adaptability and collaboration. His approach emphasises not only meeting project targets and milestones but also leaving a lasting, positive impact on people and places.
