RCP Conference 2024
At RCP’s conference 2024, Growing for Tomorrow, in Tāmaki Makaurau, we focussed on three key themes essential to shaping the future of our industry: cultural change and inclusion, technology and innovation, and climate change and sustainability. These themes not only reflect our values at RCP but also drive our approach to work, ensuring we remain adaptable and forward-thinking.
Dane Tumahai shared the inspiring history of Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei, showcasing how they have preserved their heritage while thriving in cultural, economic, and social development. We also heard from our team members Jo Lee, Kyle Clapperton, and Molika Touch, who shared their own cultural journeys and highlighted the importance of respecting culture and the opportunity to contribute to the preservation of Māori heritage through our projects.
Technology was a key focus, with Lindsay Zwart highlighting Technology trends that will shape the decade to come. RCP’s Director, Andre Koolen, built on this by discussing our journey in embracing AI, emphasising that innovation is essential to staying competitive and delivering smarter, more efficient outcomes.
Sustainability was also a main theme, with Nicola Turner urging the construction industry to make significant strides in minimising its environmental impact. We were also privileged to hear from Brooke Roberts, co-founder of Sharesies, who shared her entrepreneurial journey. Brooke’s story of disrupting the investment space by making financial opportunities more accessible through technology resonated deeply with the audience, illustrating how innovation can drive positive change in unexpected ways.
These interconnected discussions left us inspired to push boundaries, stay adaptable, and continue leading the way in building an inclusive, innovative, and sustainable industry.
