RCP provided client representation, contract administration, procurement, programming and construction management across the enabling works and the build. Archaeologists were on site full-time, and work stopped whenever a significant find appeared, with careful documentation under the resource consent conditions. Separating the enabling and main contracts meant the site was cleared and remediated before main construction began, keeping the project on track.
Cultural engagement ran through the design, with the façade and landscaping carrying local iwi narratives, and the project made room for local talent, including an internship with local iwi that RCP and Ngāi Tahu set up for a young member of the iwi. Built to seismic standards and with sustainable features, it will give ACC a resilient, modern and accessible home in Dunedin.
