Biography
Blair Collie understands the project lifecycle from drawing board to build. Over more than two decades spanning drafting, design management and now client-side delivery, he has developed an eye for where risk hides in a design and what good looks like before a single thing goes to ground. That technical depth shapes how he works, asking better questions earlier and knowing how to push forward from the answers.
Growing up on a farm in Southland, Blair was always building something. That practical instinct followed him into study, into a drafting career in Dunedin, and eventually into a design manager role where he led a team of twelve and pushed the business into 3D design technology at a time when few in the industry were thinking that way. When RCP came calling for a major hospital project, he made the move into client-side delivery and hasn't looked back.
Based in Dunedin, Blair has since led some of the city's most complex builds, including the demolition of the Cadbury site and the ACC Dunedin development, a project he followed from the ground up and one he points to with quiet pride.
Alongside his project work, Blair leads RCP's involvement in construction-facing technology, focused on how technology can improve project delivery. Harnessing 3D image captures and drone integration, he utilises technology to monitor project progress, reduce risk and improve coordination.
Blair sits on both the Otago Regional and National BIMinNZ Committees, keeping up to speed with the industry at large and driving regional and national development, sharing best practices, advocating for innovation, and strengthening collaboration across New Zealand's construction sector.
