Westgate Stormwater Management NetworkKopupaka Park manages the stormwater run-off from the streets and buildings of Westgate Town Centre, and does it largely out of sight. Beneath 22 hectares of public open space sit six stormwater ponds and wetlands, infrastructure that balances urban growth with ecological restoration, cultural and community objectives, and a high-quality public reserve.
RCP provided project management, representing the client in administering the Infrastructure Funding Agreements behind the park, taking a hands-on role in contract administration and acting as Engineer to the Contract through construction.
The park has become one of the country's most recognised landscape projects, named World Landscape of the Year at the 2016 World Architecture Festival, and it shows how stormwater management and public open space can be one and the same.
