Ahi is a 300 square metre fine-dining room at the top of Commercial Bay, its name meaning fire. The menu draws on the restaurant's own Ahi Garden and carefully sourced local produce.

The fit-out carries the same link to the land, its palette drawn from native flora, with eight species of native timber worked into the servery. The room had been designed to sit open to the elements, so the fit-out had to seal it in and re-route the building services around the change, more of them than the finishes let on.

RCP managed the fit-out and compliance for Table 102, working inside a building still going up around it. The space was not yet there to see and kept changing beneath the work, so the team kept Ahi's design flexible enough that those changes barely touched it.

Ahi sat inside the wider Commercial Bay development, which RCP was managing, so the team knew exactly where it fitted and could draw on relationships already in place with the contractors to move quickly.

Ahi opened at the top of Commercial Bay. New Zealand runs through it, from the Ahi Garden to the native timber on the walls.
