Because whitewater is a high-risk sport, RCP put the design through a rigorous safety-in-design process and led health, safety and environmental quality across the build. Vector Wero Whitewater Park opened in 2016, on time and on budget, New Zealand's first man-made whitewater river, and now teaches moving-water safety to thousands of students a year and trains the emergency crews who work in fast water.
The trust later brought RCP back to add to the destination. Wero Climb, a 16-metre high-ropes and climbing course developed with Tainui and drawing on Māori story, opened beside the river in 2025. Its structure was designed and built in Germany and shipped to Wiri in containers, so RCP coordinated the overseas fabricator, translating New Zealand's compliance and safety requirements back to them and timing the container arrivals around the foundations and the other contractors on site.
Together the whitewater park and the climb give South Auckland a destination built around water and heights, with thousands of free places set aside each year for the local children the trust exists to serve.
