Te Rehua

RCP provided comprehensive design and project management (also acting as Engineer to the Contract) for the delivery of Te Rehua, the Dark Sky Project, a joint venture between Ngāi Tahu Tourism and Earth & Sky. 

This world class and innovative project is located on the shores of Lake Takapō and offers a unique year-round day and night information and interactive visitor experience as part of the Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve. 

Our scope involved the design and delivery of the retail, tour departure terminal, café & restaurant and astronomy experience. RCP worked collaboratively with the experience architect as part of the design phase, utilising journey mapping to understand visitor flows and experience and managed the design accordingly. 

The project has been a huge success and will be a valuable addition to the region and its community.
