Hamilton Office Manager

Biography

Sam Lawson came to project management through architecture and construction, and that combination sits at the heart of how he works. He holds a Master of Architecture and spent years working in both architectural design and hands-on building before moving into project management, giving him a genuine understanding of every stage of the project lifecycle and the ability to speak the language of both designers and contractors.

Originally from Hawke's Bay, Sam spent a decade in Auckland before relocating to Hamilton, where he now leads RCP's Hamilton team. His work has been heavily focused on health infrastructure, including the Waikato Regional Renal Centre and a four-level orthopaedic hospital currently under delivery. These are high-stakes environments where the margin for error is small and the impact on the community is significant.

Sam is direct about what makes projects work. Open communication, a willingness to find common ground and a clear focus on solutions when challenges arise. It is an approach that serves him well across the range of project environments he works in, particularly where the stakes are high and the pressure to keep things moving is constant.

"You've got to be comfortable with discomfort and identify solutions. There's always a way forward."

As Hamilton Office Manager, Sam is focused on strengthening RCP's presence in the region, building the local relationships and team culture that allow the business to deliver well over the long term.
