Biography

Kathryn Collie is a programme manager with a background in land surveying and civil engineering, and more than twenty years of experience working across large multidisciplinary projects. Her career has taken her from cadastral surveying in New Zealand to site engineer on the London Underground, then later into civil engineering.

Over time her role shifted from technical design toward design management, project management and ultimately programme management, where her focus is on people, process and outcomes rather than individual project detail. Since joining RCP she has been embedded within major public sector programmes, including seismic remediation and property consolidation programmes for the New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology, working across multiple projects to ensure they are aligned, well governed and collectively delivering on the wider programme objectives.

Kathryn is drawn to work in the public and social infrastructure space, where programmes are ultimately about delivering outcomes for communities. She believes successful programmes come down to clear communication, well understood roles and responsibilities and strong reporting lines, making sure the right information reaches the right people at the right time.

Her background across surveying, engineering and programme management allows her to see the bigger picture while understanding the technical and delivery challenges of projects, a combination that proves particularly valuable on complex multi-project programmes.

"Programmes are about people and projects are about projects. It is about keeping everyone coordinated, making sure the right conversations are happening at the right level."
