Biography
Following the Christchurch and Kaikoura earthquakes and recovery efforts, Glen saw the impact of delivering infrastructure projects that provided social and environmental good. This crystalised his future direction, leading him towards roles where he could share his skills and knowledge to benefit people, communities and the environment.
Glen embarked on his career in engineering consultancy. He brought a twist to his role, a background in planning that afforded him a unique point of view, and one he carries through his work today – three decades later. He quickly progressed into leadership roles in his career, developing his calling for “working with people, for people”.
Motivated by the role of infrastructure in bringing change, Glen has worked to find solutions for local communities, particularly those at risk from environmental change. In his recent role at Kainga Ora, he worked with Iwi groups and various stakeholders to develop intergenerational housing.
He also sees governance as an opportunity for positive change. Selected as an emerging director for a previous company, Glen has continued to apply his governance skills and expertise to community organisations. He is currently the Chair for Innovative Waste Kaikoura, providing support and direction for managing solid waste, 3W infrastructure, resource recovery and environmental enhancement within the Kaikoura District.
As the proud father to three teenage girls, Glen loves nothing more than the precious time he gets to spend with them. However, when time allows, he also likes to escape to his garage, where he keeps his other passion - two classic cars that are “a never-ending project.’
